Thirds Courageous Semi Final Win

THIRDS OVERCOME LOSS TO KEY DEFENDER IN 1ST QTR TO WIN & REACH THE GRAND FINAL

In one of the great results for the Club, our Thirds held on to win a tremendous Semi Final against De La Salle at Waverley Oval earlier today to claim a spot in the GF in 2 weeks time. It's a true indication of the depth within the club this season.

The win was achieved despite the loss of Mitch Bourne in the 1st Qtr to a very serious head knock and a broken nose. The incident happened in the run of play and it spurred our boys on after half time. In an inspired 3rd Qtr we kicked 7 goals, which turned the game in our favour. It set the game up for a hectic final stanza, with De La throwing everything at our defenders in an effort to win. But we held on to win one of the classics.
Club President Terry Lucas who was at the game said "I'm was super proud of the all the players today - the smothers, the tackles, the gut running and the old fashioned hunting in numbers. When the momentum turned against them in the final Qtr, they found a way to win. It's a great result for the club. I am so happy for these boys, they were incredible."

Goal Scorers: Mitch Kornberg 3, Sam Campbell 2, Cam Pace 1, Todd Douglass 1, Jacob Agostino 1 and Matt Grigoriou 1

Best Players: Cam Pace, Jacob Duignan, Scott Kendall, Tom Gregory, Matt Grigoriou, Mitch Kornberg, Ben Hall, Todd Douglass - basically the whole team!

The club wishes a speedy recovery for Mitch who has been an integral and inspirational part of this team.

The Grand Final will be in 2 weeks time against either De La or Fitzroy.

Congratulations also to Coaches Brad Kilgore, Cam Gregory and TM Peter Silk.
