Club Farewells A Champion

Tremendous day for the club on Saturday as we said farewell to Stephen Milne, not only an AFL great but someone who will be revered in BFC folklore as a 2 time goal kicking champion, a premiership player and legend around the club.

It was a special day for Steve and his family.

History will show that Beaumaris defeated Old Haileybury 98 to 69 and S. Milne kicked 3 goals, but the real story was the sun setting on the football career of one of the game's great goal kicking small forwards.

As a mark of respect post game the Haileybury players and former Saints team mate Stewart Loewe lined up to bid farewell, along with supporters, juniors, family and BFC Members.

From the club's point of view Stephen Milne has been an amazing ambassador off the field as well as a brilliant player on the field; in both respects Milney has served the club with distinction and pride.

Tonight's farewell speech from Milney was full of emotion for the club and the players who have been with him these past 3 years.

In closing, the Beaumaris Football Club has been privileged to have had Stephen Milne play in the 'Blue & Gold.'

Milney - thanks for the memories - you're 'Simply the Best'
