U17s & U19s New Coach Appointment

Beaumaris Football Club

It is with great pleasure the Beaumaris Football Club (BFC) Committee would like to announce the appointment of Michael Shmerling as its Head Coach of the under 19 and under 17 programs with match day responsibilities for 19 premier and 17 div 1 teams for season 2019.

Michael comes to us with outstanding credentials and competencies, importantly:

  • elite program Box Hill Hawks Development Squad coach
  • VAFA senior coach Kew FC
  • South Metro Junior Football League interleague coach
  • Full-time secondary school PE teacher
  • Possesses the passion, energy and positivity to develop and improve young minds
  • Enjoys the excitement and thrill from one of his students or players after they have achieved their best in either their on or off field endeavours.

This an innovative new role which will form a key part the BFC coaching team lead by current Senior Coach Guy “Bluey” McKenna and supported by Director Of Senior Football Program Brian “Choco” Royal and Director Of Junior Football Program Stephen Nash.

The key objective for Michael is to promote the development and retention of ALL players regardless of ability. He will facilitate the overall aligned development of the U19/17 playing lists to ensure a consistent coaching method is applied focussed on the integration of the U19 & 17 playing groups with the senior playing list and ensuring there is a clear pathway for U19 players to play senior football transitioning through to firsts, seconds or thirds senior teams.

This will be a significant and challenging role for Michael which will require a strong support structure of assistants around him for both groups.  If anyone wishes to fill an assistant or line coaching support role, please contact Nick Heath ( 041 3333 452 or nheath@deliver.com.au ).
