Senior Girls overcome a slow start to produce a gutsy win at home.
Despite a flat first half our Senior Womens team stuck firm to their game plan in the 2nd half to stave off a very good Ivanhoe side at Oak St on Saturday. Under severe pressure in the first half our defensive six held firm in a fantastic display of rebound football.
In the 4th Qtr the girls were able to launch a couple of telling raids into our forward line to give us the victory by 14 points.
Leading the way was Co-Captain Ellen Wood whose 3rd Qtr was inspirational and helped set up a platform for the win. She was ably assisted by Stef Baxter, Sarah Collins, Zoe Larrieu, Gen Gori and Lauren Haringsma.
Prominent as always were our midfield group Sienna Tedde, Sasha Long, Em Baker and Nadia Eldred.
During the course of the game it also became apparent that we may of unearthed a couple of future guns - namely Ally Gilchrist and Rosie Byrne. Both these girls had tremendous games, with Ally kicking 3 great goals and Rosie so effective in the midfield.
Great win by our girls.
Our next game will be against Old Mentonians at home on April 27th @ 4:45pm.
