Club Celebrates Tom Dean’s Stellar Career

Last Saturday the club honoured one if its finest – Tom Dean with a presentation of a 'Club Service Award' to the just retired two time club champion.

Tom started his career at the Sharks in the Under 12s, he went on to play VFL footy with Sandringham before returning to the Sharks to become our second longest serving Club Captain. His Sharks career includes two Premiership Medallions, the first in 2010 & the second as Captain of the 2016 B Grade team, two Senior Best & Fairest Awards, six years as Senior Captain and 130+ Senior games.

Tom also won the coveted ‘Spirit of the Big V’ award for being ‘Best on Ground’ with the VAFA Victorian Representative side against South Australia and was voted ‘Best on Ground’ in the 2016 Grand Final and was third in the VAFA A Grade Competition B & F in 2013.

President of the BFC Past Players Association and Club historian Ron Nicholson, in paying tribute to Tom said, “Tom was straight forward his whole career, on and off the field, he never took a sideways step. Even as a youngster he had a strong character and possessed a special ability with the football. Tom is without question one of the elite dozen or so players to play for the club.”

Well done Tom and thank you….
