Mid-Season Message From Juniors President, Nicki Spencer

Hi All
Where has this season gone!
Time is certainly flying past, as we head into Round 10 this weekend, after the winter holiday season has passed.
As we motor towards the back end of the season, it is an opportune time to reflect on what we have achieved so far, and what we have to look forward to for the remainder of the season.

Our modified rules teams are now in full swing and have become used to the Sunday morning excitement that is football. As the mornings become colder, the welcome hot coffee at Banksia, DMAC and now the Secondary College are too good to pass up, as we support our young players on the sidelines. Improvement in skill and game-based play has been immense.

Our Under 11 through Under 18 teams are now in the full throng of competition. After a longer than usual and somewhat contentious regrade period, the pointy end of the season will determine which teams progress to finals. Our coaches continue to strive to ensure all players enjoy their season, and improvement has been shown across all levels, and in many aspects of the game.

Dangerous tackle guidelines have been distributed to all players across the league to ensure we all understand the rules and their interpretation. It is important that we as supporters continue to support positively all aspects of the game. This includes league and club based umpires, our players and the opposition.

Our high performance program will roll out over the back end of the season, and the physio junior triage sessions have been well received by junior players. The taping session was also invaluable to our trainers. These triage sessions are available on Monday night from 4.00pm to 5.00pm at the Banksia Clubrooms and I encourage all players to take advantage of them.

Shark of the Months continue to be popular for our younger age groups, and our under 8-10’s dads lunch was a big hit amongst the Dads and special friends. Thanks Russell Morris for entertaining the crowd, and for Mercedes Benz Brighton’s continued support of the football club.

The Under 11-18 Dads lunch is scheduled for Saturday 17th August, and will feature two of Beaumaris ‘own AFL players in Ollie Florent and Jack Scrimshaw. A day not to be missed.

Sausage sizzles, pie, pizza and parma nights have and will continue for the remainder of the season and are a great way for the players and parents to mix.

Our annual Cottesloe game was played in great spirits and enjoyed by all. Well done to our coaches and players of the Under 12’s for a great night.

I continue to be impressed with the improvement in skill and game sense of our girl’s football teams, and the continued enthusiasm they bring to the club. The facilities at the Beaumaris Secondary College have enhanced the girl’s teams training style and game play. Thank you to the MCC for their continued support, and to the coaches and support staff.

Congratulations to all those players who were selected and played interleague over the Queen’s Birthday weekend. We hope that you will be able to share your experience with your club team mates in a positive fashion, and your experience will provide some valuable football lessons for the future.

Well done to our Under 16 Vic Metro representative Lachie Brookes and our Under 18 Vic Metro players Andrew Courtney, Corey Watts and Ryan Byrnes.

Last weekend at the Clubs 100 game and life member’s dinner two club stalwarts whose significant contributions have spanned both the senior and junior club were awarded life membership. This is the highest honour awarded at club level. Congratulations to Stephen Nash and Adam Catlin

We have much more to look forward to before the season finishes. Please put the following dates in your diaries. Support of the club at all levels is vitally important for the clubs continued sustainability. Many hands make light work.

I look forward to catching up with many of you over the remainder of the season.
