Seniors Back in the Four

Seniors Return to the Top 4 With a Good Win Over Old Haileybury

It was must win for our Seniors yesterday, a loss would have virtually killed off our Top 4 aspirations. But a good win away to Old Haileybury and a loss for St Bedes has put put us back in the four.

As Coach McKenna reflected post game, "today's win counts for nothing if we don't put everything thing into training this week in preparation for a massive effort in the away game against Uni Blacks on Saturday."

Blacks have hit form at the the right end of the season having won their last 6, in some cases by big margins.

Anyway, our win yesterday showed again that our Senior team is molding into a tight, cohesive unit and the younger players are becoming more assertive and more confident. Case in point is Oscar McMaster who has been tremendous for us all season and at 18 years of age has it all in front of him. Yesterday Oscar (2 goals) was best a field, his tireless gut running, support play and tackling a real feature of his game.

Another good player for us yesterday of a similar age was Nat Bazzani who has come back into the Senior side after some time in the U19s. When it comes to straight ahead toughness, Baz is brilliant, he rarely concedes his position or a contest. He has only just turned 18 and will be long term player for this club.

Other good players included Scott Gower, Chris Grigoriadis (3 goals), Riley Virtue, Ben Mathews & Chopper Heath.

Skipper Matt Petering kicked 3 very good goals and is really making a statement at Full Forward.

Next week's game will be against Uni Blacks at Melbourne Uni.
