With a number of new players in the Senior Men’s team to start the season, the task away to De La was always going to be a huge test, as De la are considered to be a top-tier team in Prem B this season. Despite the 19 point loss, our guys showed lots of application and fight. Jack Challands had an outstanding game in the middle, while the perennial Cal Heath was relentless all day in the ruck. Other good players included Joe Nowell, Reubenn Smith, Darcy James and Jai Florent.

The Reserves were gallant, but kicking inaccuracy cost them crucial goals. Best players were Jeremy Williams, Matt Lovejoy and James Davidson.

The Prem Women would probably like to play the 3rd Quarter again, giving up an 8 point ½ time lead to be down by 22 at ¾ time. Despite storming back in the final quarter, the girls fell just short, eventually losing by just 4 points. They’ll be disappointed, but credit to the Williamstown team who were persistent all game. Our best were Emily Van Der Water, Sienna Tedde and Zali Reynolds.

The Women’s Reserves started their season with a dominant win over Williamstown. It’s been three years since the Women’s program presented a Reserves team, so it was promising to see the girls start their season with a victory. Many of the players are new to the club or have come through our juniors, so the win comes as a boost to the whole program and to new coach to the Senior section Paul Zahra. Best players were Loz Haringsma and Remy Barker.

On Sunday the Youth Reserves, playing in the Div 2 Thirds comp, found Ajax too strong. The guys never gave up and showed great resilience. Best players were Nick Wall, Marcus Le Gear and Lachie Jones.

The U19 Prem Team went down to Caulfield Grammarians in a tight competitive game. It was all square at half time, but the ‘Fields’ got the better in the 3rd Qtr to put a grip on the match. Our best were Jhett Haeata, Angus Bowd and James Pepper.

The U19 Two’s had a resounding win over St Kevins on Friday night. After a hard fought loss last week this was a great way to kick start the season. Best players were Niall Hayes, Elliot Styles and Lachie Howell.
