TEAMS OF THE DECADE

On a freezing August night in 2002 the football club held its 40th Anniversary Dinner in the new function room in the Caufield Racecourse Grandstand.

On that night four Teams of the Decade were announced, a Best Team of the first 40 years and the best team of Beaumaris players who had played in VFL/AFL was also started.

Then in 2012 at the Clubs 50th Anniversary Dinner held at the Crown Casino (incidentally on the same night that Black Caviar won at Royal Ascot in England) another Team of the Decade was announced. This team covering the years 2002 to 2011. Unfortunately, the opportunity was missed on the night to get the team together for a photo. In the succeeding years attempts were made but to no available. With some members living overseas and other interstate it is something the club is still working on.

Since the AFL/VFL team was started we have had several more Beaumaris player join the ranks of those fortunate enough to play at the highest level.

Oli Florent (Sydney), Callum Sinclair (Sydney), Hayden McLean (Sydney) and Jack Scrimshaw (Hawthorn) have all made their debut.

With the advent of the AFLW we also add two more Beaumaris players to this list. Kate Hore (Melbourne) and Poppy Kelly (St Kilda).

Since 2012 Jack Gunston(Hawthorn) has gone onto to being a triple Premiership player and Kate made the 2020 All Australian AFLW team.

It's about time for another Team of the Decade, the 2010s, a period which produced two more Senior flags (2010 and 2016) and several Seasons in the Premier (the old A Grade) Division of the VAFA.
