100 Games/Life Members Dinner: A Roaring Success
With over a hundred Beaumaris Legends(*) gathering at Oak St for the Biennial Dinner for 100 Game Players and Life Members it had to be a rollicking event with a great vibe resulting from having people from every era of the club in attendance and lots of energy from our Guest Speaker, Carlton Legend, Anthony Koutafidis, who provided plenty of entertainment for the assembled Sharks and assisted by our own Michael Roberts.

A major feature of the night was having our first female inductee into the 100 games club, Sarah Collins, interviewed by ‘Dougie’ Ensor.
We also loved the fact that three of the veterans from the ’65 Premiership team came along and were introduced to the guests:
• Gil Lockhart – the first Sharks footballer to play in the VFL/AFL when he debuted for Carlton in 1966
• Dave Scully – the Premiership B & F in ’65 and the oldest living Sharks’ player at 86 years of age
• Bob Nottle – Vice-Captain of the ’65 Premiership team & Captain of the ’66 team with the 23 game streak
A lot of hard work and perseverance put in by the Past Players & Officials Association to get this 22nd 100 Games Dinner up and running, especially by Phil Thomas, Mark Ensor, Mark Hall, Ian Millar, Bryce Gardiner & Ron Nicholson. Well done guys!
Behind The Scenes
How good was it to catch up with old friends and teamates on Saturday Night? It was great to see generations mixing together and very much living by the motto, "Once a Shark, Always a Shark".
Impressive to see Past President and human punching bag (when playing Altona) CJ Dennis come down from Brisbane for the night.
Great to see some new traditions being created as well. It would appear newly crowned Life Member Matt Petering taking on the role of asking his annual hard questions to the talent. The now traditional "urinal" question is outstanding and the Kouta handled it well. Imagine if we have a night when Paul Scanlon is there as well. God help the talent !
And then there is Mad Willow and his fixation as to who was the best number 3 in the clubs history? It was great to see him, Murray Pitts, Matt Petering and James Taylor in deep conversation over the decision.
Just as a hint, at the 50th Anniversary while running into Michael Voss in the little boys room Willo was heard to comment that he was still the best number 3 to have ever played.

Best dressed for the night? Without doubt Sarah Collins. Good to see her raising the standards! In second place was The Mayor of Beaumaris in his Flat Cap. Maybe they are all the rage in New Orleans?
Then there was Tagger's Raffle. Great concept, modern technology at its best. Thanks to all for kicking in!
And finally................its pretty easy to see, next time desert will be minimal cheese and just a truckload of lollies and chocolates.
