Senior Mens and Womens teams start the season with impressive victories, while the Reserves and U19 Prem 2's also record great wins.
It was a great day of action for all seven Senior teams yesterday with 4 victories and 3 losses. It also marked the first ever game by a 2nd Womens team and the renaissance of a 3rds team. Both teams experienced losses but will be all the better for the hit out.
A brave U19s Prem side went down by 8 points at Williamstown but showed real fight in their return to the Premier level. The signs look good.
Importantly, the U19s 2nd team, playing in Div 4, had an inspiring win against Peninsula. It was significant for Head Coach Simon Crompton who has been a pillar of strength for the 19s for a number of years. Well done to Simon and all those boys!
The Seniors Womens team, who have been elevated two levels to Premier B, scored a courageous win against Collegians. Emily Van de Water was outstanding in a 'Best on Ground' performance. In great support were midfielders Alana Gadsby, Amelia Bartlem and Loz Haringsma and Zoe Larrieu, Pip Atkins and Caley Ryan in defence.
The Mens Reserves team had a good 6 goal win against Williamstown, with James Davidson and Jordan Cole proving a 'hand full' up forward. They received great service from Mick De Fontenay, Will Armstrong and Lachie Brodie in the middle and the Tedde brothers, Campbell and Lachlan and Ryan Bennett in defence.
In the Seniors game Lewis Diggins played inspired footy in a 'Best on Ground' performance. He was ably supported in the 10 goal win by Chris Grigoriadis, Ben Mathews, Chopper Heath, and Matt Petering. Debutantes Riley Mahailovic, Max Rothberg and Andrew Courtney also had tremendous games.
Well done to all teams.
