Our Teams Shine Across VAFA’s U19s Recognition Round

Last weekend’s round of VAFA footy had a special focus on Under 19s football, specifically to highlight the future stars of VAFA and indeed, AFL football.

The BFC was allocated a Friday night game at home for the Prem Reserves against Old Trinity and a Sunday afternoon game against St Bernards at the home of VAFA, Elsternwick Park.

In a great result for the club and our Under 19s program, we won both games.

It was a significant statement for the BFC, who every year lose players to school and AFL U18s footy in that particular age group. It must be said that given the opportunity those players, in almost every case, return to play for their club of origin, the Beaumaris Football Club, in either the U17s, U19s or Senior footy. Such was the case on Sunday.

Final scores:

U19s Premier - BFC 9.13-67 def St Bernards 5.18-48

U19s Prem Reserves – BFC 4.10-34 def Old Trinity 2.9-21

We won’t nominate better players as in both cases it was tremendous team efforts that secured the wins. Both games were played in a finals like atmosphere, the Friday night game having an added intensity being played under lights in front of a partisan Beauy crowd.

Well done to all the players and head coaches Michael Schmerling, Simon Crompton and their support staff headed by the hard-working Lee Young .
