Congratulations to Zoe Barbakos who will become the 3rd BFC player to play in the AFLW. Earlier this week Zoe signed with the Hawthorn Football Club to become the Hawks 2nd AFLW signing.
Zoe follows Kate Hore (Melbourne) and Poppy Kelly (Richmond) as former BFC players signed to AFLW clubs.
Last weekend Zoe kicked 3 goals for the U18s Vic Metro side against Vic Country, which sealed the signing.
Last year in a Covid interrupted season, Zoe played 10 games for the BFC, including the thrilling semi-final win over Fitzroy. The season ended incomplete after that semi.
Zoe’s signing comes as no surprise at all to those who saw her in action for the BFC. She possesses energy, speed and competitiveness and although only 17 years old last season, had immediate impact at the BFC kicking 13 goals as a goal sneak. Some of her goals were exceptional.
When she wasn’t scoring, she was giving them off. Zoe finished 3rd in our B&F last year having had a tremendous season.
Zoe, we wish you all the best for your future career at the Hawks.
Fins Up & Go Sharks!
