THE SENIORS DELIVER FOR HAYESY AND JT.

Everyone knows him as Hayesy, one of the hardest working Junior and U19 players over the past 6 years, also one of the toughest. More recently he’s been part of the Dragons program. We’re talking about Liam Hayes, who prior to yesterday had played 62 games of Juniors & U19s footy for the BFC.

However, on Saturday Hayesy got to play his first Senior game for the BFC against Fitzroy at Brunswick St Oval. Playing a key defensive role Hayesy was brilliant, repelling many a Fitzroy attack and combining with the likes of Cal Linehan like he’d played 100 games with him.

In the final votes tally Hayesy was just behind recently appointed captain Joel di Natale as best on ground.

In the end we won by a mere 5 points holding out a fast finishing and brave Fitzroy team. Matt Petering scored 3 vital goals, with the accurate Cal Heath chiming in with two.

Congrats to all the boys and particularly Liam on an outstanding debut game. Liam is pictured here with his proud parents Trish and Conor.

Special congratulations to James Taylor who played his 100th Senior game for the club. JT is not only a great clubman, but one of the team leaders and one of the first players picked on selection night. A great teammate and supporter of other players. Well done JT!

Good win away boys.

Final scores: BFC - 11.5-71 def Fitzroy 10.6-66
