Senior Teams Deliver Four Great Wins

Anzac Round 3 delivered great wins by our Seniors, Reserves, Thirds and Women’s teams.

For the Thirds and Reserves it was their first wins for the season. The Senior Men's and Women's teams remain undefeated.

After excellent wins in the first two rounds, the Under 19s succumbed to a very good St Bedes side at Brindisi St.

The highlight of the round was the nine goal haul by Thirds forward Matteo Barba in clearly a best on ground performance in their win against Old Ivanhoe. Fantastic effort! Well done Matteo.

Other good players included Captain Andreas Baruhas, James Diamond and Corey Lawton who kicked 4 goals.

The Reserves got their season going with a strong 45 point win over De La. The match featured the return of former multiple premiership heroes Mark Ensor and Anthony Carroll. Another premiership player, Drew Kelly, who kicked 3 goals for the Senior team in the 2016 Premiership, kicked four goals to lead the charge. Jordan Evans continued his good form with another strong game.

The Seniors Men’s and Women’s teams maintained their good form, with captains Joel Di Natale and Sam Baisas both receiving Anzac round medals for their ‘Best on Ground’ performances. Both were outstanding in the middle - tough and relentless. Joel and Sam have taken on their roles as club captains with vigour and determination, leading by example and inspiring their team mates.

Closely behind Joel and Sam for the medals were Jak Nardino and Sarah Collins. Sarah is one of the most consistent players in the club who relishes the hard work in the ruck and around the ground. Jak is arguably the most dynamic player in the Senior Mens group, someone who can turn defense into attack in a heartbeat. A tremendous player to watch. Well done also to Joel Cusack who kicked four goals in the Seniors game.
