The Beaumaris Football Club wishes to extend its heartfelt condolences to the Gunston Family on the sudden passing of Ray Gunston.
Club President Terry Lucas had this to say:
“I was very saddened to hear the news about Ray. I first met Ray in the late 80s at PWC and only recently spoke to him and wife Mandy at a footy function, where Ray selflessly offered to be guest speaker at Beaumaris Football Club.
Ray was of course well known for his distinguished executive career at both the AFL and Essendon Football Club and for his extensive contribution to the game over many years.
The Gunston family were actively involved with the Beaumaris Football Club in the early 2000's, with Ray coaching, wife Mandy team manager and Jack playing.
Ray and Jack had the great thrill of being coach and captain respectively, of the 2002 Under 11 Beaumaris Sharks Premiership side.
On behalf of Beaumaris Football Club, we extend our thoughts, love and prayers to Mandy, Jack and Kate at this very difficult time”.
(Ray is pictured here with triple premiership winning son Jack and Club President at the time, John Murton, in July 2016 when Ray and Jack were guest speakers at a BFC Match Day lunch).
RIP Ray.
