Seniors Wrap Up 2nd Spot

Mixed Results for BFC Senior Teams Last Saturday.

It was a disappointing day for our Thirds team on Saturday going down to Williamstown by 17 points at home in the major Semi Final. Despite finishing on top of the home & away ladder, our boys looked out of sorts on Saturday. Andreas Baruhas and Matt Dickinson (4 goals) played tremendous games to keep us in the contest, but in the end, Williamstown proved to be the better team on the day. The result means we now play Collegians in the Prelim Final which will take place on Sunday at 9.20am at Garvey Oval in Bundoora.

Our Reserves team also had a loss away to Old Carey, which almost certainly ends their finals campaign for season 2022. The guys have fought valiantly throughout the season and have supported the Senior team with players through periods of injuries and illness. Their 7/7 win, loss ratio doesn’t reflect the effort and support they have provided. Top effort guys. Let’s nail those final 2 games of the season and finish on a high.

Following that game the Senior Men’s team had a solid win over Old Carey, running away to win by 100 points. With three rounds to go we now have a 4 game break over Old Haileybury, which assures us a top 2 position and the double chance going into finals. Uni Blacks retain top spot a game clear of us and will be a formidable opponent in the finals.

The Under 19s also confirmed 2nd place on their ladder with a strong win against Uni Blacks at home. On the back of 9 goals from Co Captain Nate Dear, the boys showed tremendous application to turn around a disappointing loss to Hampton the previous week. Their biggest challenge this season will be the powerful St Bedes side who they will face in the first week of the finals.

Nate was well supported by Lachie Rundmann, Spencer McLennan, Lucas Rowbury and Oscar Phillips

The Women had the week off to prepare for their Grand Final game against Old Camberwell at Trevor Barker Oval at 2pm on Sunday. (more about the build up to that historic game later in the week.- but lock it in now).
