Under 16 Div 1 Boys tough it out in a gripping Semi Final against St Bedes.
Down by 22 points at half time in the Major Semi-Final against ladder leaders St Bedes, it looked like at bridge too far for our U16 Div 1 Boys.
Hell no, it was game on – the whole team stepped up, lead by Ted Clayton, Harvey Backman, Luka Pecer, Mitch Kirkwood-Scott and Olly Green the intensity lifted. This was a game with the winner going directly into the grand Final. It was tough! The stakes were high.
By 3/4qtr time the lead had been brought back to 9 points. This is when you want straight kicking and Sam Meredith has been tremendous in this respect. His 3 goals gave him an impressive 39 goals for the season.
In the end we dominated the 4th qtr, winning this brilliant game by 15 points.
Other good players included Sam Buck (tireless in the ruck), Josh Dolan (2 goals), Angus Bowd and Jhett Haeata.
We await the winner of St Bedes and St Kilda City.
