Can Terry Do It Again?
On Sunday our two Under 13 Boys Teams will play in Grand Finals.
For coaches and players, this is a tremendous achievement. It’s not easy to make a GF, let alone two teams from the one age group.
All year this group has been superbly managed by Div 1 Head Coach Terry Lucas and Div 4 Head Coach Rory Hannaford. There’s been a buzz about this age group all season, you can tell by the vibe at Shark of the Month’s. In fact, the U13 Girls just missed out in their Semi Final last Sunday.
But there is a back-story to Sunday’s Grand Finals. Nine years ago the U13 Div 1 Boys won the SMJFL Grand Final defeating East Sandy by 5 points in a dramatic and captivating game of footy. Coach of that team was non other than Terry Lucas, who’s son Josh played in that team. Now, in 2022, Terry finds himself in another GF with his youngest son, Chris. What an amazing coincidence and what an incredible achievement!
A number of players in that 2013 GF winning team are still playing Senior footy today for the BFC.
