Juniors Soar to new heights

Beauy Juniors Soar to New Heights

It was another massive day for our Junior teams on Sunday winning 5 more premierships to add to the 3 won the previous Sunday.

8 Junior premierships set a new benchmark.

It could not have been more exhilarating. The grounds were packed and the atmosphere intense. It was electric.

Commiserations to the 3 losing teams, both Under 16s Girls teams suffering heartbreaking last minute losses. The U14 Boys could not find their rhythm and went down to Ormond.

There were so many highlights, and we’ll have a close look at each game with pics and photos coming up.

In summary:

• The U17 Div 1 Boys were devastating against the highly fancied St Peters Bulldogs. People will talk about this victory for many years. The last quarter was football of the highest standard. The pinnacle of junior boys football.

• The U18 Div 1 Girls (Reserves) – A tremendous backend of the season saw this team roll through the finals for a well-deserved flag. Great result for the girls, most of whom have played with each other for many seasons.

• The U15 Div 4 Boys – After a few struggling years, these boys showed early on this season that they were determined to turn things around. And did they work hard for this result! Brilliant effort by all the players and coaching staff.

• U16 Div 3 Boys – for many, one of the strongest 2nd sides we’ve seen for years across all ages. Top of the ladder, with only 2 losses from 17 games. After a slow start in the final, they powered away to victory by 45 points.

• U16 Div 1 Boys – St Bedes had been the team to beat all year, but we showed in the opening round of finals what could be achieved. The GF was as tough as it gets, but a combination of skill and grit assured us of a special win in front of a massive crowd.
