Justin Wilson Steps Up to Coach Under 19s
The BFC committee is delighted to confirm that Justin Wilson has been appointed Head Coach of the U19s for the 2023 season. Justin takes over from Craig Phillips who is stepping down after doing a tremendous job with the U19s last season.
Justin has held a number of coaching positions in our Junior ranks over many years. Most recently, Justin partnered Craig Phillips as Assistant Coach of the 2022 U19s team and is Craig’s natural successor. Justin has worked with these boys for many seasons, is highly respected and well liked.
Director of Football Nick Heath welcomed Justin to one of the most important coaching positions in the club, “This is a well-deserved appointment. Justin has been an institution at the club for many years. He is well known for his keen understanding of the game and for his tactical know-how. I’m certain Justin will continue the great work done by Craig Phillips last season and take this very talented group of boys to well-deserved success. This is a significant appointment and I’d like to wish Justin all the best.”
Club President Terry Lucas had this to say: “Justin is a man of great character who really cares about the development of young men on and off the field. Our under 19s are the future of our senior men’s teams so it is important that these young men have great mentors in their late teen/early adult years. Craig Phillips did a great job in 2022 and I have no doubt that Justin will build on that with his focus on strong relationships and his astute football knowledge. Justin and the 19s boys will also benefit from the new senior coaching group, with Josh Bourke, Mick Lovejoy and Nick Moodie all having years of experience coaching and developing 17-19 year old lads. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the Under 19s can bring in 2023”.
