Some BIG Announcements for the Club
Senior Head Coach Josh Bourke today announced the signing of Jimmy Freeman from Balwyn FC to the Sharks. Jimmy is a former Sandringham VFL player and Dandenong Stingray. This is a significant recruiting achievement as Jimmy comes highly regarded as a player with outstanding footballing talent.
The other major announcement is the re-signing of Tom Spencer as Coach of the U17 Div 1 Boys team. Tom will be joined by his father Stuart who will be his assistant.
Under 17s football is the pinnacle for junior boys football and success in this age division has been a priority for the club for many, many years. Last season, Tom was coach of the Div 1 Boys team who took on all before them coming from 3rd on the ladder to win a memorable Grand Final. Tom will be hoping to repeat that success with last year’s U16 Boys, who won the Div 1 and Div 3 premierships.
Stuart Spencer is no stranger to coaching success, most notably the 2017 U15 Div 1 Boys premiership with a team that not only included his son Tom, but 2 future AFL draftees and a number of boys in the current Senior and U19s teams, including 2 of the 3 U19s co-captains.
Importantly, Josh Bourke sees the U16s and U17s as hugely vital links in the pathway chain and will be following those age divisions with close intent.
