Cam Mackenzie gets picked at No 7 by Hawthorn in the national AFL draft.
It was a dream come true for former BFC junior Cam Mackenzie who got selected by the team he grew up supporting, the Hawks.
Cam was a standout player in his younger days at the BFC starting in the U9s in 2012. Despite a year away due to family commitments, Cam played 91 games for the Beauy juniors, just 9 short of his 100.
He quickly made his mark at the club and in fact was a key player in the U13 Div 2 Premiership back in 2017. In the same year he was selected to an SMJFL Interleague team.
More recently he became a key member of the Sandy Dragons, played in the Vic Meto team at the National Championships and was then selected to the All Australian U18s team.
The Beaumaris Football Club is again proud to have another of its players selected in the national draft. All the players and families who has been associated with Cam and his family speak only in the highest regard of a fine young man who has worked tirelessly to reap his reward - a top 10 national draft selection.
Well done Cam.
Go Sharks!
