Last night the club celebrated its 60th birthday with a massive gathering of past and current players, officials, life members and supporters.
The event was staged across all three social rooms at the club, highlighted by a magnificent memorabilia wall conceived by the past players association and built by the current players. Many thanks to Sean Coote, Matt Petering and James Taylor.
Also on display visually was a superb collection of video highlights compiled by Ian Millar, which featured grand final celebrations and photos dating back to the first years of the club right up to the current day.
Three club legends John Collins, Bryce Gardiner and Ron Nicholson were honoured for their long service to the club and the community with the ‘Victoria Award’ presented by local state member Brad Roswell.
The highlight of the night was the announcement of the Men’s ‘Team of the Decade’ and the Women’s ‘Team of the Decade’. See below the selected teams. Special mention to Matt Petering, Tom Dean and Samantha Baisas who were selected as team captains.
Overall, it was a night where friends and players reacquainted, current players and officials mixed with past players and officials and stories of former glories were relived and embellished.
The BFC Management Committee would like to thank the Past Players Association for their involvement and support. Also, many thanks to special guests Wayne Judson and Michael Roberts.
