This week’s BFC Juniors ‘Player of the Round’ is Will Clancy from the U14 Div 1 Boys team.
Last Sunday his team produced a sensational last-minute victory over East Malvern at Jack Barker Oval and Will played a significant role in the victory.
Final score:
BFC 6.8-44 - East Malvern 6.5-41
Last year was a breakout year for Will. He came equal 2nd in the League B&F and came 2nd in the Club B&F. His performances through the finals were top shelf and his team went on to take the U13 Div 1 Grand Final in stirring fashion.
Will has played 69 games for the BFC, starting in the U8s in 2017.
In the traditional terminology, you would call Will a ‘ruck rover’, and in that respect he understands the importance of ball acquisition around the ruck as well as defensive work when required.
Following Sunday’s game, Coach Terry Lucas said this of Will, “Will is an outstanding young lad, with a hunger for the contest, a terrific football brain and a unique ability to break away from congestion with speed and balance. He has a very exciting future.”
For Will and his teammates every round is loaded with a tough game. This is a very strong and competitive Division.
Best of luck to Will and all the boys in the Under 14s.
Go Sharks!
