Senior Women Reach Milestones

Milestone Girls Celebrate Close Win in Tough Conditions at Old Haileybury.

This was never going to be easy for our Senior Women at Old Haileybury. Its well known that there’s been a bit of history between the 2 teams over the journey. Old Haileybury play a tough uncompromising style of footy, which they blend with skill and speed on the outside.

This, combined with the slosh of Oval 2 at Princes Park meant the game would be a tightly fought contest and so it was.

From the BFC’s perspective, we were celebrating the 50 game milestones for Sam Baisas and Jemima Savage - two highly respected members of the team, Sam being the Captain, no less. Certainly something to play for.

Despite getting out to an early lead, our failure to convert cost us dearly and going into the final quarter Old Haileybury were back in the game. In the end our girls held on for an important win. Credit to the Old Haileybury girls who fought it out to the very end.

Best for us was Caley Ryan whose marking in the conditions was outstanding. Her timing and her reading of the game allow her to have such an impact in the air and on the game. Other good players included Lani Hilford who seemed to relish the conditions and worked extremely hard, Sienna Tedde who was tireless around the ground, Mikala Clarke so strong in defence, Jas Shepherd who kept finding the ball and Sam Baisas whose presence on the ground has such a positive influence on the team. Overall it was a really complete effort by the whole team in tough conditions.

Good result girls and well done to Sam and Jemima.
