Junior Players of the Round

It’s not everyday you find a set of twins in the one football team. It’s very rare you get two sets of twins in the one team.

Well, that was the case on Sunday for our U16 Div 3 team, which fielded the Griffith and the Towns twins, Riley, Joel, Thomas and Jacob.

Watching the game on Sunday was a challenge for a while until it was made apparent to the correspondent that there were two lots of twins out there and I wasn’t seeing double.

Needless to say, all 4 four boys played a big part in the victory over their 2022 Grand Final opponents Ormond JFC. Three of the 4 boys played in that Premiership win, with Thomas Towns coming on board this year in support of his brother.

Age Group Coordinator Dave Hickey summed it up, “It certainly creates a real family vibe having the four boys in the one team. You don’t often see or hear about a team with two sets of twins. It also helps that they’re all good players. It would be a great story if the four boys could all play in a premiership team. In the meantime, it’s a pleasure to watch them and the whole team enjoying their footy and doing well.”

Final score: BFC 5.10-40 – Ormond 2.4-16

Well done Riley, Joel, Thomas and Jacob.

Go Sharks!
