Congratulations Ava Baxter - BFC Juniors ‘Player of the Round’ from the U13 Div 1 Girls team.
Although only having just turned 13, Ava has already played 60 games for the BFC Juniors and kicked 20 goals in the process. She started in 2018 in the U10 Girls team, missed the whole of 2020 like everyone did and half the following season. But that hasn’t stopped Ava.
She lives and breathes footy and throws everything into her game. She’s not one to take a backward step and is just at home making a strong tackle as she is kicking a booming goal on the run, which she did last Sunday against Mordi-Brae.
Ava typifies your consummate ‘inside’ player, she’s often at the bottom of a pack, desperately trying to grab hold of the ball. One minute she’s up in the forward line, next minute she back in defence smothering and tackling.
Last season, Ava’s consistently good play earned her 2nd place in the SMJFL U13 Girls Div1 B&F. She also won the Club’s B&F.
Last Sunday, Ava’s team, the U13 Div 1 Girl Sharks narrowly went down to Mordi-Brae, who will certainly be up there with our girls at the end of the season.
