Tyson Milne Makes his debut

Back In 2016 Stephen Milne made his debut for the Beaumaris Football club. On Saturday his son Tyson did the same in the Senior Men’s team.

In 2016, Milney was an integral part of the BFC VAFA Prem B premiership winning team and was the club’s leading goal kicker in 2016/7.

For many years the club tried to get his enormously talented son Tyson to play for the Sharks, but to Tyson’s credit, loyalty keep him at Chelt JFC.

Outside of a stint in Port Douglas, Tyson has been a regular for the Sandringham VFL team.

On Saturday, a dream came true for Stephen Milne – that his son would play for the Sharks.

Prior to the game, the honour of presenting the debut jumper to Tyson was given to Stephen, the BFC forwards coach. It was a stirring moment and one that will be remembered by everyone in the room. Speeches can be emotional, and this was definitely one of those occasions.

Tyson went on to play a brilliant game against Ajax, kicking a goal as well.

Tyson is not a high flying 'small' forward like his Dad, he is a hardworking, gritty half back who doesn’t give an inch in a contest and has speed to burn away from his opponents, like he did on Saturday afternoon. He reads the play with a microscope and provides leadership of the highest order.

Incredibly, Tyson is still only 21 years old.

Well done to Tyson Milne on a great debut game and for honouring your father in such a special and memorable way.

Final score:

BFC 21.13-139 - AJAX FC 5.9-39

Go Sharks!
