Juniors - Players of the Round

In recent weeks two of the club’s up and coming Junior girls had the opportunity to play Senior football, Gabi Trajer and Mac Farrington, both from the U16 Div 1 Girls team.

Not only does this give the girls invaluable experience, it makes the transition to Senior football much more seamless.

Gabi was outstanding in her debut Seniors game, voted best on ground, while Mac’s debut game a week later was cut short by a serious injury to an opposition player.

Mac started her footy in the U10 Girls back in 2017 and has played 72 games for the club as well as 2 Vic Metro Rep games.

Gabi has played 62 club games, 6 Rep games and 2 Dragons games. She started at the club in 2018 in the U12s.

Mac is a midfield rotating half back flank, who can also go forward and kick goals.

In recent times, Gabi has made midfield her domain, often playing a more defensive midfield role in front of half back.

Mac had this to say about Gabi, “it’s always very exciting playing with Gabi and she always looks at the bright side of everything and always keeps the team spirit up.”

Gabi in response, “Mac is one of the most passionate players I’ve met, she puts her heart and soul into every game. Not only is she a ripper on the field, but always looks out for her teammates, giving me one of the warmest welcomes to the Beauy family!”

Coach Darryl Behrendorff summed up both girls, “Mac & Gabi are both wonderful people who display all the shark values. They are fierce competitors with an abundance of skill and ability who work hard to improve their game. Both girls are an absolute pleasure to coach and a huge asset to their team and our club.”

High praise indeed.

Good luck to both girls for this season and beyond. They have a big future ahead of them

Go Sharks!
