It was a mixed round for our Senior teams on the weekends, 3 wins 2 losses and a bye.
The Womens and U19 Div 1 teams remain unbeaten after 9 rounds and both teams sit on top of their respective ladders. The Reserves held on for a strong win against De La Salle to retain 3rd place on the ladder, while the Seniors can blame a poor 2nd qtr with the wind and errant kicking for their unexpected home loss to De La. The U19 Div 3 team left their run a bit late against St Bernards going down by 2 goals.
The highlight of the round was VAFA’s U19 Div 1 Carnival where all games were held at Elsternwick Park and for the 3rd year running, we’ve come away with the win. Like all games on the weekend, the wind played a factor and that was certainly the case at Elsternwick Park where it was like a gale. Fortunately, our boys held their nerve going into the wind and managed to kick a couple of vital goals. That proved to be the difference is a very hard fought contest.
Congrats to the 5 Senior team debutants on Saturday - James Pepper, Koby Thomson, Campbell Hetherington, Sophie Keogh and Pia Staltari. Thanks to Adam Catlin, Doug Ensor, Cal Heath, Sam Baisas and Sarah Collins for presenting the jumpers.
