A big round of footy to commemorate ‘Dare to Hope’, the foundation set up by the Dear family to raise community awareness for pancreatic cancer and increased funding to assist research development.
All senior team worn special purple socks to honour Paul Dear. Special commemorative medals were awarded to the most courageous player at each game. Members of the Dear family were on hand to present the medals after the games.
The winners were:
Seniors – Ben Hempel
Reserves – Lawson Daniels
Thirds – Trent Thomas
Womens – Holly Tysoe
U19 Div 1 - Angus Reark
U19 Div 3 – Sam Keating
Well done and congratulations to those players.
As a mark of respect, the Hampton players joined in the ‘Dare to Hope’ photo with our U19 Div 1 boys. Well done to the Rovers.
Special mention to Josh Dolan, who played his first game in the Seniors. Josh has been an outstanding Junior for many years and was ‘Best on Ground’ in last year’s memorable U16s Div 1 Grand Final win against St Bedes. At only 16 years, Josh has the football world at his feet. He played well and kicked a terrific goal.
Congrats also to Alana Hilford who chalked up her 50th Senior game on Saturday.
On the footy front, it was another round with mixed results, the winners being both U19s teams and the Women’s team.
The Seniors and Reserves went down to St Bedes, while the Thirds surprisingly lost at home to Williamstown. The Seniors face the undefeated St Bernards side this Saturday in a season defining game for our team.
The Womens and the U19 Div 1 teams remain on top of their ladders, while in a congested U19s Div 3 comp, we currently sit in 2nd spot.
Go Sharks!
