The club needed last weekend - 5 wins from 6 games.
Great to see our club unified and determined across all Senior teams.
Firstly, commiserations to club favourite and champion player Mitch Howes who suffered a season ending dislocation to his ankle in the Reserves. Mitch came back to the club this year to bolster the Reserves team and support his mates Matt Lovejoy and coach Stubba Scott. We wish Mitch a speedy recovery.
But, did we have some highlights too:
• Tyson Milne produced an amazing 2nd game for the club rotating off midfield and half back to play a ripper game in the win against Monash.
• Jimmy Freeman coming back from a leg injury kicked 8 goals in the Reserves.
• Nate Dear, playing his first game since Rd 1 in the Seniors kicked 4 goals for the U19s Div 1 team in their win over Old Xavs.
• Lani Hilford, who kicked 3 brilliant goals from a wing in the Women’s game against Old Melburnians after kicking 2 goals in her 37 previous games for the club. Special mention to Ally Gilchrist who has battled terrible injuries in recent years, showed her class with 3 great goals.
• Max Adams, who continued his good form in the 3rds with 5 goals against Mazenod.
Special congratulations To:
• Mikala Clarke who played her 50th Senior game on Saturday. One of the toughest players in the club, Mikala is a fierce competitor and a terrific footballer.
• Sophie Keogh, up from the U18s, played a brilliant game in midfield on her debut against Old Melburnians. (Pictured here with captain Sam Baisas and Coach Darryl Behrendorff).
• Calsher Dear, who was a match winner in last year’s U17’s Grand Final, was tremendous in his Seniors debut against Monash kicking 3 goals and taking some incredible grabs. (Pictured here with jumper presenter Steve Scott and Mum Cherie)
