Congratulations to Ciara Hayes and Chiara Pribil - BFC Juniors 'Players of the Round'.
These girls have been a big part of the improvement and development of the U15 Div 1 Girls team under the watchful eye of AFL Community Coach of 2022, Nat Pribil.
Ciara Hayes plays in the ruck and Chiara in the midfield.
Ciara is relatively new to the game having played only 24 club games; however she’s also played 3 rep games in the two years she’s been playing footy. Ciara has two elder brothers playing at the club, Liam in the Senior Mens team and Niall in the U18 Div 1 Boys team. A true footy family, thankfully they’re all playing for the Sharks.
Chiara is the coach’s daughter who started her playing career at Mordi-Brae before making the switch in 2021. In those 3 seasons she has played 37 games for the BFC and 88 in total. Chiara’s sister Sascha played for Old Caulfield in the VAFA Premier Division. Another footballing family.
To shed some light on both girls we asked Assistant Coach Chris Martin to give us his thoughts.
“In just her second year of football, Ciara (Hayes) has become a vital part of the team which currently sits 2nd on the ladder. A dominant force in the ruck, Ciara gives her Sharks teammates first use of the ball and from day one has continued to develop her football skills. This year Ciara has taken her game to the next level and was rewarded for her strong performances this season with selection in the Under 15 Div 1 Interleague team. In a very talented team, Ciara was named in the best players in 2 of the 3 Interleague games. We look forward to watching Ciara’s continued improvement.
“Chiara (Pribil) has been an outstanding player since joining the Sharks a few seasons ago, a natural footballer, Chiara has that magic ability to know where the ball is going to go and is always in the right spot. A fierce competitor who wins the ball in the contest and then bursts away, Chiara is continually driving the ball forward. A true on field leader, Chiara performs at a consistently high-level week in week out.
Last Sunday the girls put on a tremendous display of tough, yet skilful football.
Final score: BFC 8.12-60 – Prahran 0.1-1
