Some important outcomes from the weekends action.
Firstly, congrats to the Senior Women’s team who went through the ‘home & Away’ rounds undefeated. Their finals campaign kicks off this weekend against Old Melburnians at Whitefriars College Oval at 12:15pm, first V’s second.
Secondly, The Thirds have confirmed their spot in semi final 2, also first v second, at Basil St Reserve commencing at 11:40AM Saturday.
Thirdly, the U19 Div 1 team have confirmed top spot in their division. They remain undefeated and will almost certainly face Old Trinity in Semi Final 2 next month. The Dear brothers were outstanding in front of goals kicking 12 goals between them. In 6 games in total this season, Calsher Dear has kicked an extraordinary 44 goals and leads the club on goals scored.
Meanwhile, the U19 Div 3 side sits in 2nd place, but face a huge test against ladder leaders Old Ivanhoe on Saturday. They will need to bring out their best.
The Seniors and Reserves have byes this weekend, then face Ajax and Old Trinity in the final two rounds. The Reserves are assured of a finals spot and will face Old Trinity in the final round and then in the first week of finals. The Seniors have to win their final two matches, however a finals spot is contingent on other outcomes.
In other news, it was exciting to have the return of former Club and League B&F winner Lewis Diggins in the Reserves last Saturday. It was great to see Diggio back and looking sharp. Also, returning from injury and travel, was Ben Mathews who was terrific for the Seniors.
