Christine Davidson, a popular winner of the BFC ‘Woman of the Year’ award.
The annual BFC 'Woman of the Year' lunch was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended last Saturday. It was the 9th time that this lunch has been hosted by the Club.
The lunch was enjoyed at Black Rock Yacht Club by family and friends of BFC. Our tables were beautifully decorated with flowers arranged by Brooke Hyland, thanks Brooke. In amongst plenty of chatter, catch ups and introductions to new members, guests were entertained and engaged by Fiona Love running the formalities of the day by playing the roles of a Team Manager, Assistant Coach, Goal umpire, Boundary Runner, Umpire and fan of BFC!
A thought provoking presentation was given by Kirstan Corben, Executive Director of the Danny Frawley Centre. There were many highlights from Kirstan’s presentation giving guests plenty to reflect on and consider when we meet and greet our friends and colleagues. We were pleased to offer the Danny Frawley Centre a $250 donation from proceeds from the raffles being offered on the day.
The 2023 ‘Woman of the Year’ was awarded to Christine Davidson. Christine has been a pillar of strength for her son Mitchell’s teams from Auskick right through to today in the Under 17 boys. Filing the roles of Trainer, Time Keeper, Umpire Escort and anything else the team needed done on the day. All done with a cup of tea at hand! Christine is now also behind the scenes at our Club as Juniors Secretary. Thanks for all you have contributed Christine and all that you still do.
Our raffles were drawn by our lunch sponsor Nicki Valoppi, Owner of Bayside Sports Podiatry and one of our many generous Club sponsors. Six wonderful hampers valued between $550-$1995 were won.
Thank you to Carlie Holt and Melissa Davies who lead the charge in collecting the donations for our hampers that were raffled on the day. Thank you to all of the businesses who donated to our day. (see sponsors pic) We raised in excess of $3,000. A wonderful addition to a day that is primarily focused to be a social event on our calendar.
It was great to welcome back previous Women of the Year recipients – Tracey Francis, Jane Lapa and Karen Wilson. We also enjoyed seeing our wonderful Auskick leader Stacey Lolas mingle with the guests and see Mum’s that she hasn’t seen since children have grown from the Auskick program into the Junior program at BFC.
All in all, another fun day had by all.
Look forward to welcoming all families and friends back to our 2024 lunch next year!
