Women progress to GF in a thriller, while Thirds come up short against a red hot Old Xavs.
It was a brilliant come from behind win for our Women’s team against Old Melburnians. Sam Baisas played an inspired captain’s role in the victory. The girls progress to the Grand Final in a fortnight. Click Here for all the match details: https://www.instagram.com/p/CwKbie7vuCf/?img_index=1
The Thirds found the going tough against a skilful Old Xavs outfit at Basil St Reserve on Saturday. The guys fought hard, but Xavs were too good on the day. Captain Andreas Baruhas worked hard all game and was our best. We live to fight another day though, next Sunday 27th at Whitefriars Oval at 2:10pm against Ajax.
Meanwhile, it was mixed fortunes for our U19s at Oak Street. After a strong first quarter, the Div 3 team got worn down by a more experienced Old Ivanhoe ‘firsts’ team. Credit to our boys though, they haven’t shirked the issue since being promoted to Div 3 mid-season. They have competed hard and are still well in contention to make finals, which will be a tremendous achievement.
The 19s Div 1 team proved too strong for Old Xavs with Levi Young and James Pepper each kicking 5 goals. They remain undefeated and sit on top of the ladder.
With 2 rounds to go the Seniors and Reserves return this week for Round 17. While some teams have confirmed their finals spot, others will be going all out to do likewise. It makes for a compelling final couple of weeks of the ‘home & away’ season.
