U19s Div 1 Set Their Challenge

TEAM IN FOCUS - U19 Div 1 MEN

It was significant last Saturday when U19s Head Coach Justin Wilson handed over the post-match address to captain Angus Newman.

Angus, speaking in his calm and assured manner, expressed what he felt were positives and challenges to take out of the game. This is a team that strives to get the best out of their collective effort.

A number of the U19s players have been given experience at Senior level by Coach Josh Bourke this season and this has unquestionably assisted their mental development and their physical approach to the game.

Right now, the players don’t talk about where they sit on the ladder or the number of wins, they are fully focused on the getting to the top of their game as they approach finals.

That kind of determination will go a long way to helping them achieve their goal.

Final score from Saturday’s game: BFC 15.16-106 – Old Xaverians 5.8-38

Footnote: In its 60 year history the club has won three U19 Premierships - 1995, 2000 and 2008, the latter, ironically coached by a young Josh Bourke.

Go Sharks!
