2024 Senior Women's Coaching Announcements

The Club is pleased to announce coaching positions for the 2024 Senior Women’s program, which will include two Senior teams.

At this point it is not known which grade the teams will compete in, however is it almost certain that it will be in one of the two Premier Divisions.

After the amazing premiership success of the U18 Div 1 Girls team this past season under Coach Paul Zahra, we are pleased to announce that Paul has accepted the role of Senior Women’s Reserves Coach. Paul will join Darryl Behrendorff, Danielle Royal and Rob Marinelli as the Senior Women’s Coaching panel. Darryl, Danielle and Rob will continue their roles as Coach and Assistant Coaches of the Women’s ‘Firsts’ team.

The 2024 BFC Women’s Coaching Panel will be as follows:

Senior Women’s Head Coach – Darryl Behrendorff

Senior Assistant Coach – Danielle Royal

Strength & Conditioning/Assistant Coach – Rob Marinelli

Senior Reserves Coach – Paul Zahra

Junior Girls:

U18 Girls Head Coach – Damian Farrow

In accepting the role, Paul said it was a natural evolution to move to the Senior section of the club. He said he was passionate about women’s football having followed his daughter Monique through the junior grades as coach. Paul’s mantra has been skills development with a game style based on hard pressure football and solid tackling. That was certainly on display in the last quarter of the U18s Grand Final. Paul’s coaching career at the club started in 2015 in the U14s with his son Sebastian.

Head Coach Darryl Behrendorff was excited for the future, “Exciting times are ahead for the Senior Women's Program, as we make our return to the Premier Division with two teams, following two highly successful seasons in Division 1. This achievement is made possible by the remarkable talent and numbers emerging from our thriving junior program. We're delighted to welcome Paul Zahra, the coach of the U18s Premiership team, to our coaching staff, where he will take the reins as the coach of the Senior Women's Reserves. Paul's exceptional ability to build strong relationships with our players has already been evident, and we are eagerly anticipating the collaboration ahead with him.”

Playing an important role in Girls and Women’s Football will be Damian Farrow who has had a long association with the Club’s Junior Girls football program.  As well as taking on the role of U18s Girls Head Coach next year, Damian will assume a mentoring role in the Seniors Women’s program. His experience will be invaluable.

Commenting on the evolution of the club’s Women’s Program, Club President Nick Heath added this, “I have been incredibly impressed by the advancement of our women’s football program. Everybody involved should be very proud. Our current women’s team has struck the perfect balance of fun and high performance encapsulated in their magnificent club record 802 day winning streak. We look forward to welcoming up to the Senior section of the club our amazing U18 2023 Women’s teams who couldn’t have impressed me more at their presentation night with their Sharks spirit and care for each other and their club. Now is the perfect time to add our 2nd Senior Women’s team under the mentoring and guidance of our first-class coaching group. I can’t wait to see how these two high calibre teams put their stamp on their next phase of growth together!”

A reminder that the ‘Meet the Coaches’ night has been organised for Friday 17th November at the Beaumaris Bowls Club. This event is open to all players, women and men, new and existing, as well as parents and supporters! More details will be advised soon.
