Latest Coaching Announcements

Danny Kelly and Adam Rowbury round out the Senior Coaching Panel.

As part of the evolution of the BFC’s football program, which caters for the full spectrum of player abilities from elite players all the way through to social players, we are pleased to announce the introduction of a Youth Reserves team which will be coached by Beaumaris Football Club master coach and Life Member Danny Kelly. It is envisaged this Youth Reserves team will be a development team for players coming through from U19s through to approximately U23s, who are making the transition to ours Men’s Reserves and Senior teams. This type of team is consistent with the football program models in place with the entrenched VAFA A grade clubs, which we are on the pathway to emulating. We wish Danny and the Youth Reserves team all best for season 2024 and if there are any players keen to get involved, please text Danny (0418 316 736) or Team Manager Lee Young (0412 133 127). Once A Shark Always A Shark!

We are also excited to announce the appointment of former BFC ‘Team Of The Decade’ member and Premiership Player Adam Rowbury to the position of coach of our current Thirds, which is largely a socially focussed team, yet still have managed to play off in the Grand Final this year and Prelim final last year, playing a bold cavalier style of football. This team is largely made up of players, who due to various reasons such as other life commitments like career, family, social life, other interests, aren’t able to commit to full on training, but still love having a kick with likeminded mates of a weekend whilst enjoying all the social benefits of being involved in a community footy club. Adam replaces Mark Francis as coach who is stepping down due to plans to travel overseas next year.

The committee extends its thanks to Mark and his wife Tracey, who was also Team Manager, for steering this team over the last few years with great success and wishes them well on their travels! The committee also thank Richard Evans, who was Assistant Coach of this team, who is now stepping back on to the Senior Committee for season 2024.

Both these teams will be graded to best fit into the VAFA 3rds competition, which is made up several graded competitions matching teams of similar standard. This takes our total of Senior Men’s teams to 6, including our two U19s teams, on top of the two Women’s teams. We are very proud of the continued growth of our football club, which is a reflection of the strength of our community uniting people from all different walks of life through a passion for football.

We hope to see as many current and prospective players at the ‘Meet The Coaches’ Night next Friday 17th at the Beaumaris Lawn Bowls Club – complimentary dinner for all attendees.

Go Sharks!
