THE BFC SUPPORTS AWARENESS TO PROTECT WOMEN AGAINST VIOLENCE

Last weekend all AFL players came together in the centre of the ground to form a linked circle to pay a silent tribute to those women who have lost their lives to domestic violence.

Recently, the BFC’s leadership group got together to make a statement in support of societal action to stop systemic violence against women in line with action taken by the AFL.

Beaumaris Football Club Men’s Captain Cal Linehan issued this statement ahead of this weekend’s VAFA round of footy to the local footy community:

“The players of the Beaumaris Footy Club fully support the AFL’s strong stand to bring awareness to gender-based violence in Australia. At the BFC we have created a strong and important bond with the women in our club, be they the players in our women’s teams, the Mums who help out, the trainers and the Club’s staff. I can’t imagine this club without them, they are a key fabric of our club. So, on behalf of the Beaumaris Football Club, we fully support protection for them and all women against potential violence.”

The Senior Men’s leaders are pictured here with the Women’s leaders as a show of unity and in support of action to prevent violence towards women.
