Full Time Rounds 12 & 13

Full Time – Rounds 12 & 13
It was great to see our two Senior Men’s and Women’s teams come away with important wins on Saturday.

Playing out at Caulfield the Men reversed the result from earlier in the season against Bluey’s Grammarians. There were two players making their debuts, Mitchell Davidson, fresh from his U19s VAFA rep game and Noah Beveridge a goal scoring forward up from the Reserves. Both players recorded good games, with Noah kicking 2 goals. Midfielder, Jack Challands continued his good form this season to be our best. He was closely followed by winger Ben Mathews who has come back to his best after injury setbacks last season. Other good players included Oscar McMaster, James Pepper (2 goals), Nate Dear (3 goals) and Cal Heath.

The Reserve Men didn’t play due to a forfeit by Caulfield Grammarians.

The Senior Women combined for a strong win against Old Xavs. The victory sets up a exciting clash against St Bedes next Saturday, 4th v 5th. Outstanding for us was Anna Sutcliffe who is really coming of age as key defender, showing maturity and confidence to play on the opposition’s best forwards. Back in the team and showing their class was Zoe Barbakos (2 goals), Ash van Rooyen and Ella Southgate (4 goals). Sarah Collins and Katelyn Randall also had stand-out games. Congrats to Emily Van De Water and Rosie Byrne who played their 50th BFC Senior games. Also, to Georgia Tysoe who chalked up 100 combined Senior and Junior games. Well done girls!

The Women’s Reserves game was a credit to both teams, by 5.30pm it was freezing cold, raining and the wind was biting. However, all players showed enormous resilience. Unfortunately, Xavs managed to take the match. Our best were Millie Marshall, Niamh Stainforth, Elise Thompson and Sarah Love. Tough work!

Earlier in the day, the U19 Prem team went down to Uni Blues in a hard-fought game that belied the eventual scoreline. Best players included Niall Hayes, Darcy Richards, Carlos Reynolds and Elliot Styles.

The U19 Two’s have won many close games this season, but not this one, the guys losing by 6 points. Our best included Julian Stewart, Saxon McLennan, Will Jeffery and Ben Newman-Morris.
