In the second of our “Committed” series, in which we’re providing some focus on the 2025 season and the players who have committed to the Club next year, we’re delighted to announce that Connor Murphy and Oscar McMaster have made that commitment.
These are two players who embody the Sharks spirit, two gifted footballers and two fine young men, both of whom are an integral part of the Senior Leadership group.
Connor started at the club in 2017 in the U17s, by 2018 he was playing Senior footy. That year his games were split between U19s and the Seniors and although he played half the season in the Seniors, Connor still managed to come ‘Runner Up’ in the U19s Prem B&F.
From 2019 Connor has been a Seniors regular chalking up 87 games in the process. His consistency is his great attribute, his clearances are clean, his kicking sublime and he has a great understanding of the game.
For the past 2 seasons Connor has been runner-up in the Club Best & Fairest. So close each time.
Importantly, in 2023 he was selected in the coveted BFC ‘Team of the Decade’. A deserved honour.
Oscar started his BFC career at the same time as Connor in the U17s and their paths have had a similar trajectory.
In 2018, we had to share Oscar with the Sandy Dragons, before he became a regular in our Senior team in 2019 . Fleet footed and elusive, Oscar is a footballer you love to watch. He is deceptively hard at the ball for a player considered to be an outside player. He’s a strong mark and a good goal kicker. In 2019 Oscar won the Club’s ‘Rising Star’ award and despite a horror leg injury last season, has come back to his best this season. He has accumulated 70 classy Senior games for the BFC.
Two great players to have in your pack, Connor Murphy and Oscar McMaster – ‘COMMITTED IN 2025’.
