In the Fourth of our “Committed” series, in which we’re providing an insight into the 2025 season and the players who have committed to the Club next year, we’re excited to announce that Tom O’Rourke and Will Nish have made that commitment.
Both these players have come through our Juniors system, and both are premiership players. Tom started his footy at Beauy back in 2013 in the Under 9s. He played 123 Junior games which included the 2019 U14 Div 1 Premiership and the 2022 U17 Div 1 premiership. No doubt the covid years robbed that team of more premierships, such was their dominance. In 2023, many from that team went on the win the U19s Div 1 premiership, going through the season undefeated. Tom was a key component.
Despite a recent injury, Tom has played most of the 2024 season in the Seniors. Best known as a key defender, he has blistering speed and is a strong mark. His Grand Final games have all been outstanding, in particular the 2022 U17s GF, where his work in defence was match winning. Having only just turned 19, Tom has a huge future ahead of him wearing the Blue & Gold. No doubt a future captain in the making.
Like Tom, Will Nish started his Beauy career in the U9s, also in 2013. In fact, both guys played much of their juniors in the same team. Will was also a part of the 2019 U14s Premiership team and accumulated 108 Junior games for the BFC. In 2023, Will spent the whole season in the Sandy Dragons team, which went on to win the Coates League Premiership.
Will is best described as a ‘tough as nails’ midfielder. He is super fit and strong, which aligns with his playing style as a ‘get the ball’ mid. He has a bullet like hand ball and his kicking is long and accurate. Will’s dad Scott is a former BFC Senior team player and his brother Ben plays in the U15 Div 1 team. Strong ties to the BFC.
Scott is also the main man at Foundry Athletic, the Club’s Fitness and Physio partner.
Tom O’Rourke and Will Nish, two outstanding players and two fine young men. Two players proud to call the BFC home. And yes, they’re COMMITTED in 2025.
Go Sharks!
