The U13 Div 1 Girls take out the 2024 Premiership and conquer the disappointment of last season’s Grand Final loss.
It was a case of ‘nothing is going to stop us this year’ for the U13 Div 1 Girls who won their Grand Final with a dominant performance at Chisholm Reserve on Sunday.
In similar conditions last year at Port Melbourne, the girls couldn’t find their rhythm and went down to East Malvern, in a surprise result. However, they weren’t going to have a repeat of that this year, despite the crazy wind.
Their opponents Prahran had an equally good season, and it was certainly the two best teams in the GF.
Notwithstanding the windy conditions, both teams played quality footy, our girls having the edge with their overhead marking, which was superb. Scoring was difficult with the ball moving in all directions. Abi Lowe was the leading goal scorer with 2 goals.
Quite remarkably, Ellie Cole, who is possibly the club’s leading scorer this season, came away without a goal, although she was instrumental in creating goals for others. Ellie has kicked an extraordinary 69 goals THIS season. Some feat!
Elke Plevritis was the medal winner for Best Player in the Grand Final. Elke was a powerhouse all game, her contested marks were outstanding and her general play was dominant, clearly 'Best on Ground'.
Special mention to the Coaches Gary Nicholls and Liv Stockdale and Team Manager Mark Ensor for their terrific work and commitment all season.
Overall, a tremendous team effort, lots of great footy skills on display and a fierce determination to win. This is some team! The Beaumaris Football Club Under 13 Division 1 Girls – 2024 Premiers.
Final scores:
BFC 4.14-38 - Prahran 1.0-6
