U14 Div 1 Boys go Back to back

Under 14 Div 1 Boys Go Back to Back.

They may well be the best male team in the club, in fact there’s a lot of evidence to indicate this to be correct.

They recently put claim to this accolade by winning consecutive Premierships with a scintillating performance at Koornang Park last Sunday week.

Their win against East Brighton was emphatic. On a day when the wind played havoc with all the SMJFL Grand Final games, this team kicked an extraordinary 13.6 to 1.9 in a display of straight kicking that had the huge crowd in awe.

In two seasons this team has lost just the 1 game. They have dominance across all positions and in Co- Captain Liam Basil, they have a match winner.

Liam is widely acknowledged as the competition’s best player and accordingly gets close attention from all teams every week. Normally in the midfield, Coach Plapp decided to play Liam in a more forward position to disrupt the taggers. Liam proceeded to kick 5 goals before reverting to his midfield position. By then the damage was done. In the 4th quarter, with the wind, the team kicked 7.2 to put their stamp on the game and the premiership.

Special mention to the boys who played in defense, ably lead by Campbell Brown. To concede just the one goal when the wind was gusting down the ground, was mammoth.

Jack Plapp kicked 3 goals to take his season’s tally to 30. But overall, it was a stirring team performance that won the day, these guys were simply unstoppable.

Huge call out to Head Coach Justin Plapp who did an amazing job, ably assisted by Dean Handerson, Russell Robertson and Team Manager Jenna Barnes.

Final Score:

BFC 13.6-84 – East Brighton Vampires 1.9-15

‘Best on Ground’ Medal Winner – Liam Basil

Congratulations to the U14 Div 1 Boys – One hell of a team!
