When it came down to the final game of the season the Under 15s had finished on top of the ladder losing only one game for the season. That loss came in round 7 when the team went down to Ajax 2.14:26 to 6.9:45. Ajax ended up finishing second on the ladder only to lose the second semi and then the Preliminary final to East Brighton.
In their two previous meetings during the season, Beaumaris had won by 18 points in Round 3 and then by 1 point in Round 10. So there was really nothing between the two teams going into the Grand Final. While the final margin was 20 points the game was close all day with East Brighton being within 2 points early in the final quarter.
Beaumaris lost Mick Millar (No 11), their vice-captain, with an ankle injury early in the second quarter. But Captain Brock Rawlinson (No 9) was again dominating and providing drive through the middle of the ground finishing with 25 disposals. Ben Jakobi (No 6), playing off the wing and half back, finished with 29 disposals and 3 goals for the day. His final goal being the sealer.
George Rowlands (No 2), playing across half back finished with 12 disposal and 1 goal and continually stopped East Brighton forays into their forward line. George ended up being awarded the medal for 'Best on Ground' by the umpires.
There were several highlights from the game but none more then Dan Gray (No 1), playing at full back, taking possession on the outer back flank, releasing the ball by hand, running on to get it back, just about taking the umpire out on the way through and kicking a goal.
Footnote: Jack Gunston (No 18) kicked 1 goal and sustained a wrist injury early in the game. He was drafted to Adelaide in 2009 with pick 29 in the National Draft.
